Solar thermal technology has been in use for decades. Today's solar thermal systems will deliver all the hot
water you could need during the summer months and around 60% of your total requirements throughout the remainder
of the year.
The benefits of using solar thermal technologies:
Under the government-funded Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI), technologies including Solar Thermal Panels will earn
payments for every unit of heat generated.
The RHI scheme will be launched in two phases. Payments for non-domestic systems started on Monday 28th November 2011 with those for domestic Solar Thermal systems due to start in October 2012.
An additional Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) of £300 is also available to domestic customers from 1st August 2011.
Any installation that took place from July 2009 will qualify for the RHI, but only from the date it is registered with the scheme once it is launched.
The RHI means that households will receive around £250 per year, which when added to the fuel savings represents a return on investment of between 7 and 8%.
From October 2012, residential systems will also receive payments for every unit of heat they generate under the UK government's Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI).
Greater ROI are available where there is a greater annual Hot Water Demand.
What's the required criteria for The Renewable Heat Incentive:

- It's free as it only uses energy from the sun to heat your water.
- You can have peace of mind about the source of your energy and knowing that you will emit no CO2 when you use it.
- Boiler demands are reduced therefore prolonging its life.
- Renewable Heat incentive available on all systems installed after July 2009. This is a Government backed payment scheme to people who invest in renewable technologies (Solar Thermal). The actual payments available are to be announced this year.
- Low maintenance products with long life span.

- Must have Loft & Cavity Wall Insulation installed
- Systems to be fitted by approved Solar installers
- May be necessary to provide feedback on performance
- Could require monitoring equipment to be fitted.
